Professor Jaeuk Kang's Team Develops Inkjet-Based Technology for Practical Optoelectronic DevicesThe research team led by Professor Jaeuk Kang of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s Graduate School of Flexible Printed Electronics demonstrated, through an inkjet printing (inkjet printing)-based process technology, both large-area, uniform thin-film fabrication and eco-friendly process scalability for next-generation display light-emitting devices and solar cells.
Professor Kang's team, in collaboration with Professor Seongho Jin's group at Pusan National University, developed a high-performance organic light-emitting device (PHOLED) based on inkjet printing that combines eco-friendly solvent design and interface engineering. The study was published in the internationally renowned journal Materials Today.

Eight Undergraduates from the Department of Housing Environment Receive Jeonju Mayor's Award for Improving Living Spaces for Vulnerable HouseholdsEight undergraduates from Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s Department of Housing Environment received the Jeonju Mayor's Award at the 2025 Jeonju Distinguished Citizens Awards Ceremony.
The award recognizes their contributions to the creation of better residential environments and the promotion of community housing welfare through active participation in Jeonju's public–private–academic demonstration project to improve living spaces for vulnerable households.
The recipients were fourth-year students Hwang Jang-hyun, Jeong Hye-jin, Nam Si-hyung, Park Ji-hyun, and Ban Seung-eun, and third-year students Jang Ji-yun, Kim Seon-jun, and Kim Seul-gi. They have played central roles in the department's ongoing projects to improve living spaces for vulnerable households and to renovate community senior center spaces.

On January 2, 2026, a presentation ceremony was held at the President's Office at the University Headquarters. President Yang and key university officials attended the ceremony, where they commemorated the donation and presented him with a plaque of appreciation.
Since taking office, President Yang has donated KRW 10 million each year, practicing exemplary leadership. In particular, this donation was made as a designated fund for the Division of Chemical Engineering, where President Yang has devoted himself to research and education. It expresses his special affection for the department that has been his lifelong research base and for his students.

PhD Student Jaejun Lee Wins Top Prize for AI Transfer-Learning Research to Alleviate Heat Stress in JeonjuJaejun Lee, a doctoral student in the Department of Urban Engineering at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (Advisor: Professor Yoo‑jeong Kim), recently won the Top Prize at the '2025 Jeonju Big Dream Special Competition'.
In his project, "AI Transfer-Learning-Based Prediction, Assessment, and Mitigation Strategies for Heat Stress in Jeonju City," Lee proposed a deep transfer-learning model that fused Seoul's Urban Environment IoT (S-DoT) data with Jeonju City's climate and environmental data, receiving high acclaim. In particular, the proposed model was recognized for its academic and policy significance because it precisely predicts heat‑vulnerable areas and proposes tailored mitigation measures to reduce spatial inequities within the city.

JBNU researcher Amanpreet Kaur (Graduate School of Flexible Pinted Electronics, supervised by Professor Junwoo Lim) presented a study on the fabrication of a bipolar plate with an innovative structure to improve the efficiency of vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB), a next-generation energy storage device, at the 8th International Conference on Advanced Composite Materials (ICACM 2025) held in Tokyo, Japan, and received the Outstanding Presentation Award.
Through an innovative design that integrates the electrode and the bipolar plate into a single unit, the study simultaneously increased energy efficiency and long-term stability. The work is evaluated as having advanced the practical applicability of large-scale energy storage systems.

The Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at JBNU said it successfully conducted an international exchange program in Hanoi, Vietnam, from December 26 to 30 as part of JBNU's Glocal University Project, visiting the Hanoi National University of Foreign Languages followed by the Vietnam National Academy of Diplomacy.
