Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced that on May 8 at 11:00 a.m. it held an Industry-University Cooperation agreement ceremony at Engineering Building 8 for the four projects selected for the '2026 Industry–University Joint Technology Development Projects.'
This initiative aims to further develop the research technologies possessed by JBNU faculty together with companies and to link them through to commercialization. The plan seeks to enhance the competitiveness of the regional semiconductor industry by combining the university's research capabilities with companies' field technologies.

JBNU Graduate Students Win Awards for Outstanding Research at Korean Association for Radiation Protection ConferenceJeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Applied Plasma and Quantum Beam Engineering graduate students Do-won Lee and Ji-min Shin (Integrated Master's–Doctoral Program, advised by Professor Seo Hee) recently won awards for outstanding paper presentations — Lee in the oral category and Shin in the poster category — at the 2026 Korean Association for Radiation Protection Spring Conference held in Pyeongchang.
Do-won Lee presented the study 'Validation Study of the Principle for Measuring Heavy-Ion Beam Position Using Prompt Neutron Scattering Imaging Equipment' in the Radiation Measurement session and received the Outstanding Oral Presentation Award.
The study verified the principle of a technique for real-time measurement of the beam position during treatment to improve the precision of heavy-ion therapy, which has fewer side effects and is effective in treating intractable cancers. “Into a Sea of Knowledge”… Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Holds Academic Electronic Resources FairJeonbuk National University (JBNU) Central Library(Director Seol Dong-hoon) held the 12th event, the 1st floor Jungdo Lounge of the Central Library, titled “2026 Central Library Academic Electronic Resources Fair”.
The fair was organized so that members of the university could more easily understand and effectively use the library’s diverse academic electronic resources, and it provided practical support for activating research and learning activities.
The event, which ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., drew strong interest as undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and staff freely participated.
A total of 19 academic information providers and organizations participated, introducing a variety of scholarly content the library subscribes to—electronic journals, databases(DB), and e-books—and giving on-site demonstrations.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Accelerates Spread of Multi-LLM Generative AI ServiceJBNU's multi LLM based generative AI service is rapidly spreading across the campus. The service within one month of launch, users 6,600 surpassed, showing high usage across the university community.
JBNU operated a pilot program from February to March to enhance the university community's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and AI service accessibility, and has provided the full service since April 1. The pilot found that 98% of users wished the service to continue, indicating high satisfaction. The university said it launched the full program reflecting the pilot results.
The number of users is increasing sharply. Within one month of the service launch, total users exceeded 6,645, of whom 5,486 were students, accounting for about 82%. The service is being used broadly across the university community, including 545 professors and 614 staff and teaching assistants.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Offers Specialized Training to Develop Plant Quarantine InspectorsJeonbuk National University (JBNU) will conduct the '37th In-person Training Course in Preparation for the Plant Quarantine Inspector and Plant Inspector Qualification Examination' from May 11 to May 22 to cultivate specialized plant quarantine personnel.
This course was developed to prepare candidates for the qualification screening examination for plant quarantine inspectors and plant inspectors administered by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. JBNU's Graduate School of Plant Protection has been commissioned to provide specialized plant quarantine training since 2023. The training takes place at JBNU's International Convention Center.
The training program includes 23 new employees from the Agency and four trainees from the International Plant Quarantine Certification Institute. The program is designed to strengthen the practical competencies required in plant quarantine fieldwork.

As the policy to expand students' choice of majors—centered on the consolidation of admission units into broader recruitment areas—has taken root steadily, key indicators such as applicant numbers, competition ratios, and admitted students' scores have all risen, demonstrating that the Glocal University 30 Project is being successfully implemented.
JBNU's analysis of the 2026 admissions results shows that early-admissions applicants increased by 884, from 23,876 in the 2025 academic year to 24,760 in the 2026 academic year. Accordingly, the overall competition rate rose from 7.6:1 to 7.8:1, indicating higher preference for the university.
