JBNU College of Nursing (Dean Seok-hee Jeong) recently announced on the 12th that, as part of the 'Future Nursing Talent Glocal Competency Enhancement Program', Department Chair Ji-hyun Baek and 21 students visited the United States to observe advanced healthcare settings, educational systems, and clinical operations and to explore various global career pathways.
This overseas training, arranged for the second consecutive year following last year's program, is being continuously promoted as part of an educational strategy to provide students with experience on the global stage and to raise the university's internationalization index.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Launches Employment-Guaranteed Contracted Enrollment Industry–University ProjectJBNU has formally launched an industry–university project under the contracted enrollment system to cultivate industry-tailored professionals for the defense industry.
Last year, JBNU established a contracted department for a master’s program with an enrollment quota of 25 students in cooperation with some 20 defense companies and built an employment-guaranteed talent training model based on corporate demand. On the 11th, the university announced that it recently held a workshop to plan the industry–university project and has begun full-scale implementation.
The workshop, held from the 5th to the 6th, was hosted by the JBNU Aerospace-AI Advanced Defense Convergence Education and Industry Project Group (Director: Professor Bae Junsu). It was conducted with support from the Glocal University 3.0 Project, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Industrial Technology Association.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Strengthens Close Communication with High Schools Ahead of High School Credit System and University Admissions ReformJeonbuk National University (JBNU) held the 'Jeonbuk High School Career and College Guidance Department Heads Workshop' on the 10th to promote the stable implementation of the high school credit system, respond to the 2028 university admissions reform, and strengthen cooperation with high schools to cultivate regional talent.
The workshop was organized to further strengthen JBNU's field‑based communication with local high schools. Earlier this year JBNU launched an advisory panel on university admissions consisting of 43 members, including education office supervisors and high school teachers, as part of its efforts to prepare fair and trusted admissions procedures.

The Environmental Health Center operated the First Environmental Health Supporters with the goal of raising residents' awareness of environmental health and promoting practical action. Nurturing Students' Aspirations on a Green CampusJeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s 12th president, the late President Jang Myung-su, who laid the foundation for the university's development, is being honored as his spouse, Mrs. Lee Soon-rye, donated a development fund of 10 million won in keeping with his educational philosophy.
JBNU held a donation ceremony on February 5 in the President's Office at University Headquarters. The ceremony was attended by President Yang Oh-bong; Mrs. Lee Soon-rye; the late president's son, Mr. Jang Won; Professor Emeritus Ko Young-ho; alumnus Joo Hyung-sik (Department of Resources Engineering); and other bereaved family members and officials.
The donation was made to commemorate the late President Jang Myung-su's devotion to the university—he served as a JBNU professor and president and nurtured the campus into one of the most beautiful in the country—and to express Mrs. Lee Soon-rye's wish to encourage students who are devoted to their studies despite difficult circumstances.

Undergraduate Researcher Eun-jin Shim Wins Best Short Paper Award at KCSE 2026Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Software Engineering AI&SE Lab. (AI&SE Lab., Advisor: Professor Deok-san Ryu) undergraduate researcher Eun-jin Shim recently presented the paper "Software Defect Prediction Using an In-Context Learning-Based Tabular Foundation Model (TabICL)" at the 2026 Korean Software Engineering Conference (KCSE 2026) and received the Best Short Paper Award.
This paper is a study that analyzed the applicability of TabICL, a tabular foundation model based on In-Context Learning that has recently attracted attention, to the Software Defect Prediction (SDP) problem.
Unlike conventional supervised learning methods that require large-scale training data and repeated retraining, this study proposed a new approach that performs defect prediction at the inference stage using only a few examples, without separate model training.
