Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Holds RISE Achievement Forum…Sharing One Year of Regional Innovation Outcomes
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) held the 'THE JBNU RISE⁺ Achievement Forum' on the 20th with university and regional stakeholders in attendance, and shared the core outcomes of the Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE) project carried out over the past year. This forum was organized to report the first-year outcomes of the 33 RISE projects that JBNU is conducting under the vision of being "a flagship university leading Jeonbuk's sustainable recovery, development and take‑off," and to discuss future directions for building a local government–industry–academia–research cooperation ecosystem. Our University Supports Outstanding Researchers Across the Entire Research Career
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is strengthening support for outstanding researchers across the entire research career and continuing its efforts to advance into the global Top 100. It plans to systematically develop so-called 'star professors' by selecting outstanding researchers at each career stage, from assistant professor to post-retirement. On the 20th, JBNU announced that it had designated 19 faculty members with outstanding research achievements as 'Fellows' and held an awards ceremony. This selection was carried out as part of establishing a support system for outstanding researchers across the entire research career. JBNU Calls for Participating Companies for the '2026 Special Zone-Type Technology Startup Studio'
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is recruiting companies to participate in the "2026 Special Zone-Type Technology Startup Studio (DTIM) Support Program" to promote deep-tech-based technology startups. By the application deadline of March 16. The program is supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Jeonbuk Research and Development Special Zone. It aims to strengthen the commercialization capabilities of deep-tech (pre-startup) companies that possess innovative technologies. The eligible applicants are prospective founders preparing technology startups within Jeonbuk and companies established after January 1, 2026, that are headquartered in Jeonbuk. Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) and University of Tsukuba to Jointly Operate International Collaborative Learning Program
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will partner with the University of Tsukuba in Japan to jointly operate an international collaborative learning program in which Korean and Japanese students participate together. JBNU announced that it will host the international collaborative learning program "Korea–Japan Future Factory Forum 2025 in Jeonju," implemented with support from Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), together with the University of Tsukuba. The program is a field-centered education initiative based in Jeonju in which JBNU students and students from the University of Tsukuba form teams to seek solutions to regional and global social problems. JB-RISE Research Cluster Begins Development of AI-Based Drone Detection System
The JB-RISE research cluster, composed of a research team led by Professors Dong-gu Lim and Seok-hwan Park from Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Division of Electronic Engineering, the Korea Research Institute for Shipbuilding and Offshore Equipment, and ㈜씨엔와이더스, will formally begin development of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based drone detection system. The participating company from the defense sector is Nexwill Co., Ltd. The core objective of this project is to develop next-generation drone detection technology that can overcome the limitations of existing radar technology. The research cluster has established a mid- to long-term commercialization roadmap through the 2025 performance-sharing meeting and the first 2026 Regional Innovation Cooperation Platform establishment workshop.
